Hiperacusia en las artes: David Cabido Lopez » Fighting against hyperacusis

David Cabildo Lopez

I am an artist, based in Southern Spain (Almería).

The main topic of many of my paintings is hyperacusis. Hyperacusis is a rare hearing condition that means a low tolerance to normal and loud sounds.

This condition implies that the hyperacusis sufferer is isolated from the world and it is hard for him or her to lead a normal social life (there is too much "noise" at a bar or restaurant, in the cinema, etc).

Many of my paintings and drawings try to reflect the typical headache that hyperacusis sufferers get after being exposed to a loud sound.

In the future I wanna explore and depict both the physical damage and the social isolation that a hyperacusic person suffers as a result of not being able to put up with noise.
